Hi everyone (who still reads this)
I've started a new blog on developing Cosmist thought and debate. Cosmism is the title of a philosophical position based on the writings of AI researcher Hugo de Garis. He predicts that the 21st Century will be dominated by the debate over species dominance and that as it comes to decide how to utilize the technology, there will be a violent divergence between those who fear the risks of entering the posthuman era, and those who welcome it. At this point, there is no sharp difference in my mind between the term Cosmist and the term Transhumanist (perhaps for me, it's more of a right-brained approach vs. the left-brained approach I'm used to reading).
For me, watching Eidolon's videos was a transformative moment in my ability to fathom and digest the huge range of issues that this debate raises. So, in that spirit, the first thing I plan to do with my blog is to take each Eidolon video and deconstruct them from a Cosmist point of view in order to raise questions and hope to (as always in a philosophical debate) try to defend the ever-developing positions of the Cosmist movement.
